Irish typeface for newspaper nameplate

clashmore16 July 2009 · 18:48

I'm looking for a typeface that can in some way be traced back to Ireland—traditionally used there, the designer, etc. It will be used for the nameplate of a newspaper.

I should clarify that I'm not interested in Celtic-style typefaces. Just a suitable serif with Irish roots.

Thanks in advance.

Wilke?

I once met a type designer who I presumed, through his accent, to be Irish, although we never discussed our roots.

I can offer a contemporary Roman style face featuring particular Irish characteristics (not the “celtic style” as a matter of ductus).
