how come I can’t figure this out.
If I have a 10 page doc of vector art and type, how do I export this as a rasterized or .jpg pdf file?
Do I have to export the pages as .jpgs and then put them into another file?
The simplest trick (if I recall correctly) is to add an extra layer to all of the pages of your document. Make this the top layer. On this layer (on each page) draw a box that covers all artwork and images and textmaterial (in other words: the whole page). Give this a fill of 1% Black and make it Transparent.
Now export to PDF as usual. All text and vectorimages will be rasterized.

If you export your pages as PDF, you have a LOT of options (in terms of file size/quality)... “smallest file size” will often rasterize teh art, but not always, and only at 72 or 96 ppi.
You should be able to Export pages as JPEG images; it’ll ask you what resolution, RGB/CMYK, etc.
If you still want a PDF, use Adobe Acrobat: choose to “Create PDF from Multiple file(s)” and select all the JPEGs (they’ll be numbered)... Acrobat will then let you save that as a rastered, multi-page PDF.
Yet another method would be to export to PDF, then in Acrobat do Save As. Change file type to JPEG and adjust the settings to your liking. The only problem with this method is that it leaves you with a separate JPEG file for each page. To get those back in a PDF, you would have to make a new InDesign document and place the JPEGs onto each page, then export as PDF. Just make sure not to downsample too much. All that compression will not be good for your art.
