Does the Fontlab "Test font as" feature use all of the corrected kerning and metrics when creating its test samples? Or, do I just need to gen the font for each test?

AFAIK, Yes.
James & Jimmy, are you saying that you can make it work at all? Mine worked a couple of times early in 2008 and then died. Ever since it just shows the default font, whatever that is.
Mine works fine in the otf format (which is the one I'm most concerned about). I'm just not certain that it is using the correct side bearings and kerning. I mean, it seems to. I was just trying to cover all of the bases before I trust it. I don't know why yours would work.
