I've narrowed the L and widened the A, S, G, and U.

Here's what it might look like when all the effects are added...

The color treatment does have the basket ball looks and feel but to me it kind a look old fashioned.

Yeah, I'm going for a somewhat retro look.

I like it.
The changes are fairly minor, but it helps I think.

Another variation...

Made some changes to the letter forms:

just for fun here are my changes from original font:

Another idea:

I think the other version appeals to me more then the silver bullet version. Maybe because it feels more retro and the latest feels too modern for the Lakers.
Keep in mind though my largest exposure to the Lakers was in "Look Who's Talking 2" in the early 90's.

Tweaked the kerning a bit..

I think you'll find it was actually "Look Who's Talking Too"

more:

Not digging the purple behind Lakers.

I'm getting a little Snickers feel from the silver bullet.

Hardcore Lakers fan here...how about them Lakers last night huh!

I don't mind the yellow & purple at all since that is the team color...but I'm not liking the silver though. Earlier version is better...it much cleaner & straight forward.

btw...you run lakersground.net forum?

>>>> Hardcore Lakers fan here...how about them Lakers last night huh!
Damn straight man! Lakers are the shiznit. They give meaning to my life.

>>>> I’m not liking the silver though. Earlier version is better...it much cleaner & straight forward.
I somewhat agree, but I'm trying to make 'Lakers' and 'Ground' stand out from one another. I haven't found a great way to do it yet, especially against a dark background.

>>>> btw...you run lakersground.net forum?
I'd like to think I do but there's a number of people who put more time and effort there than I do. But in my head they all do my bidding for me.

I like it. But seems like there isn't a big change from the previous. But I guess it'll be ok if you're only changing the logo not the entire website and the forums.

I think I'm close!

I think you're close too - good work.

There's a subtle but well-established rule that reversed-out text will tend to look smaller than black-on-white text of the same size. I think there's a little of that going on here: GROUND appears larger than LAKERS in this last version.

Is the K a little narrow?

What do you guys think of this modification?

OLD/NEW

.

(I think I might have overdone the change, perhaps something in between would look most pleasing)

Yup, something in between will look great.

How's this?

.

I think the kerning might still need a little work.

Basic version:

Looks better. Maybe just a hair bigger GROUND would be even better.

My eye wants the S and the G to be more equidistant from the beginning of the "bullet" - the S looks too close.
