Firms for magazine redesign

bDIN

Could anybody name a few firms that are particularly skilled in magazine redesign? My dream firm would be Pentagram if we can afford them, and I can’t think of any other firm that comes close to them in terms of quality and experience. Thanks for any suggestions.

What sort of magazine? Some people specialize.

Why don’t you do it...saw your work and it is beautimous : )

Michael

There’s also Roger Black and Lucie Lacava.

Roger is in NY and Lucie is in Montreal.

(hey, Michael! are you still ruffling feathers on here?)

It’s our quarterly alumni magazine. Usually around 64-72 pages; 75%-25% editorial/ad ratio; circulation about 180,000.

Thanks Michael :) We’ve considered doing it in house, although I don’t think I would have the time necessary to spend on the redesign that it deserves. Plus, it’s always beneficial to have the perspective of someone from the outside. Third... I’m definitely no Pentagram!

Thanks 7; I’ll look into them. Anybody know who designed Martha Stewart’s Blueprint a couple years back?

Blake

Absolutely Roy.

But he’s got real talent!

Why give the job to such a big studio?

There’s also

García Media

Both are big.

Naylor Design specializes in the academic area.

Don’t forget Hopkins/Baumann

Maybe not appropriate for you but here they are.

or I could help, :-)
I’m NOT a Pentagram! but I did some successful magazines redesigns.

Some good choices here; this helps. Weapon of Choice has done some fine work with SPD lately.

Andrzej - I like AARP and often show it to clients to prove a point that an older audience can handle body copy under 12 pt. type...

Ronn Campisi does great work with alumni publications. It’s become something of a specialty for him.

From personal experience, I can say he’s a pleasure to work with.

Perhaps more focussed on newspapers, there’s PalmerWatson
