Mike Parker: The May King!

Christopher Tim...

A little bird told me that tomorrow, Friday, 01 May, 2009, is Mike "the May King" Parker's 80th birthday.

Happy birthday Mr Parker.

Sincerely,

Christopher Dean
Typographer

I adore Mike Parker and hope that there are many, many more birthdays to come. Every year at TypeCon, his stories (which often run into the wee hours of the morning) are one of the highlights of the entire event.

Best Wishes Mike, and Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday, Mike!

I second Zara -- I only had the pleasure to be in his company in an informal setting once or twice and the stories just didn't stop.

Many happy returns, Mr. Parker.

Indeed! Happy birthday Mr Parker. I will today, clink a glass with him and others and we'll wish him well from all of you who appreciate the uniqueness he represents. And for those who don't (and there's always someone)... (http://typophile.com/node/57509), live long and design all you want, you earned it!

Cheers!

Happy Birthday Mike! The most entertaining TypeCon regular... http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=mike%20parker%20typecon&w=all

Happy birthday to Mike!

@ Berlow,

Will there be a photographer there?

Send my greetings too!

Sii's excellent link wasn't enough! (of course. there will be a flicker of some sort.)

Cheers!

All the best!

I don't do the Flickr thing, but here's a shot of Mike blowing out the candles:

And Cyrus drew one of his inimitable caricatures for the card:

Happy Birthday Mike

Happy Birthday Mike!

So something good did come out of the crash! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIKE!

Shamelessly bumping. Any other photos?

Mike enjoying a good laugh. (Probably something David said.)

Looks more like grandad just got to hold the baby to me :-)

Heh heh. Chris, that's not a burping towel; it's a t-shirt. Just a little while earlier, David had handed out the t-shirts that Cyrus made to commemorate this year's Font Bureau offsite meeting.

The t-shirts feature another wonderful Cyrus caricature. You can see it at the link above. I call him Karl {Combining} Marx.

Well said, Kent! :-)
