Mystery Cheltenham used for L.L. Bean Logo logo

user_1969

Hi All,

I'm almost certain this is a cheltenham, but can't find the right one. Any suggestions? The closest I found was Cheltenham EF, but its not quite right.

Thanks,

Cory

It doesn’t match any digitisation of Cheltenham I could find nor does it the lesser known Gloucester. I think this must be either pre-digital or a clone.

LL Bean has been printing its catalogs in Cheltenham for almost 100 years, so it's part of the brand identity. For the logo, they probably had a designer tweak it a little.

Looking at a LL Bean pdf you see Bitstream Cheltenham and another set called BeanCheltBook, BeanBookItalic and BeanBold. Those must be the tweaked ones.

Isn't it just ITC Cheltenham (maybe with slight modifications)? Similarities are obvious, and proportions match... (taking into account the fact the sample is quite small, so I cannot compare it better)

@PublishingMojo

Where did you find this PDF? Are these fonts available for purchase anywhere?

Thanks,

Cory
