Classic (70's) Movie Poster Font

bistis6

Need help with this classic poster font, very common throughout the 70s! It’s sometimes mis-identified as Univers Condensed, but the lower case “g” is totally different, as is the upper case “S”. It's also commonly mistaken for SF Movie Poster. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is probably a photocompositor font that has not been digitized. Your best bet is Tilting Gothic or Block Gothic.

Photocompositor??!?!? Nuts. I had the same issue when looking for Alpha Midnight. I hope this isn't the case again. Thanks for your response.

Yep, anything produced before 1990 is likely either hand drawn or pre-digital typography.

On the plus side, Venus Light Condensed is even closer than my other suggestions.

Yes, that's amazingly close. Thanks a lot, Stephen!

Grrr...commercial font. Dang. Any free versions of this floating around?

Good type generally costs money.
