Is there such a thing as a nice script font?

union

I need a 'nice' bold script font... I've always pretty much hated script, I think we are taught at design school to hate scripts. But anyway, a fellow designer has given a client a logo design in a script font, the job has now passed to me, and Iam meant to find a sellection of nice bold script fonts to give the client some kind of choice..

any idea's?

Cocktail Shaker, League Night, The new Veer One from Jukebox . . .

:D

Bickham Script from Adobe is quite well done and has very nice swash caps.

Sarah Script from Letterhead Fonts is great... we just bought it a few months ago.

What style of script are you looking for?

Try Monotype Script:

It reminds of Coca-Cola, and most people love coke - or Pepsi, same difference.

Speaking of scripts, I'm doing these letterpress cards (sort of as a joke - more during TypeCon) and I found this pretty amazing old script face from the Tetterode/Amsterdam foundry - you wouldn't believe how self-conscious it is - I should have a showing in mid-July.

Mark Simonson's Coquette ... one of my favorite scripts.

But are there no specifics? Style?

hrant, pepsi and coke ARE NOT the same thing.

Tiki Holiday

Lamplighter Script -- guess this one isn't very bold though. :/

Suburban -- a sans serif with script-like tendencies

Sodascript -- an italic sans with script-like detailing

hrant, pepsi and coke ARE NOT the same thing.

Politically speaking: yes they are. I wouldn't drink either one. :-)

Not a script, but "script like", new at Lanston.

"I think we are taught at design school to hate scripts."

I think at my design school in Italy they don`t know
what you are talking about. I might be wrong.

I like those:

Caflisch Script
Good Dog Plain
EF Kaufmann Bold

Poetica and Brioso, both by Robert Slimbach are masterful, formal typographic scripts.

There are hundreds of different kinds of script. What kind of style are you seeking? A single category -- 'script fonts -- that includes all the examples so far suggested in this thread is a category that is too broad to be useful.

Danubia script is foxy, and more "typographic" than most...
