I like the idea but we should have started one sooner. I run one with another design board but the deadline was the middle of October. Remember shipping international and even cross country takes longer around the holiday season.

How about emailing visual image presents? Kind of virtual gifts?

ChrisL

Middle of October? Man I was still concerned about how much Halloween candy I could stock pile then.

Canada Post told me if I mail all my international parcels by Dec. 10th by regular air mail they would likely arrive before Christmas.

Count me in Haley. There's still time enuff.

Chris, that's a great idea too. How about we each post visual image presents for our fave fellow gripe-o-philers ryte here online at Typophile? That way we can all get together under an imaginary xmas tree and huddle? Huddle man, huddle-cuddle. cood be a lot of fun.

j a m e s

I love the idea.

I'm in.

Gripe-o-phile... What a great idea, James! :-)

Haley, count me in.

Something awesome? Count me in!

@Ricky he's so fine: Gripe-o-phile...

Of course it's a great idea! ;^) What else would you expect from me? When it gets that silly / sardonic you can be sure I'm putting peeple on. For the curious, "gripe-o-phile" is a pun on typophile I extracted from Ray Larabie. I made him coin it by saying "tripe-o-phile" to him one day. The pair of us compete to see who can be the silliest and get into the most trubble.

Now Ricky, I'm disappointed in you ;^) We haven't had a joke from you yet. That's hardly in the festive spirit is it? Wot say Ricky? Wot's your joke?

j a m e s

cool, i'm in!

And no joke yet from Dezcom! Where's your joke Chris? Come on, I'm waiting ;^)

j a m e s

James,
I am afraid you might call me a punophile and that might be illegal in some states like Alaska.

ChrisL

You guys can PM me your addresses anytime.

Yeah.

Found this illustration I drew ten years ago or so. Just edited the logo. Cheers :)

I may reference this for my cards this year.

I know, I know: I couldn't find a handwriting font. :-/

So we're doing a physical gift under $10 right?

in

Ricky I couldn't find any handwriting fonts either. I looked everywhere, I looked under the cat, I looked in the glove compartment of the car, I looked under the mat, and I looked under the sofa too but there were'nt any there either.

I couldn't find any handwriting fonts but I am just now (even as we speak) pushing a new font of mine called Jabberwub out the door. One thing I did find under the sofa was ten minutes. I must have left them there on Friday when my friend Amanda stopped by.

I couldn't think of any really great ideas so I played around with the Jabberwub font and clicked on buttons and things and generally just—you know—used my imagination. I suppose there is a vague kind of a theme going there, if 2009 can be called a theme. All I can really tell you is that I would have been stuck for something interesting to post if it wasn't for layers and gradients and hard lite.

So I am thinking of giving away release copies of Jabberwub to typophilers as free xmas gifts.

Think that's a good idea?

Do you?

j a m e s

My gift to all...

You're welcome, by the way.

Okay I am cutting off stuff now!

heehee

I have alerted everyone to their person! Let me know if you didn't get an email :)

Blaah, I was out of town and missed all this.

I'm involved with an unsecret santa exchange with another board, and sent mine already last week.

Mili,
You also have to play Santa for your kids! I never know what to get them now that mine are grown.

ChrisL

Chris,
It's not that easy after they're past the Barbie and Lego stage. Teenies and (pre-teenies) are either very expensive or difficult, or both.

Remember to send out your presents out by tomorrow!

Yay!

Picked up some goodies...Goin' in the mail tomorrow!

I hope I get a can of French Minion Soup for Christmas

Goin' to get a present to send to (name withheld) today. It's Wednesday 10th over here.

j a m e s

Sent! (Yesterday).

Selected my goodies today... and they'll be in the mail tomorrow! Sorry for the delay.

mailing tomorrow, friday

*sorry for the delay*

Its not a physical present but its in keeping with the season. Go here to try our interactive holiday card. We sent it out with our customers as the name variable, but since I don't know you you'll have to type your name in the box (once the cover flips over). Then fool around with the font and kerning controls. It's pretty fun. Merry Christmas all!

I sent out my gift this afternoon.

My present arrived last Thursday.
Three Doctor Seuss books:
Horton Hears a Who
Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories
Oh the Places You'll Go

My guess is it was Milli who sended it. Came complete with a noyce card with sweet informal script type spelling out "Merry Christmas". Inside in neat handwriting it says, "Dear James" (printed inscription "May all the days of the Christmas season and the coming year be happy for you.") "All the best for christmas and the new year! -- Typo Santa".

Well thanks whoever sended this package to me. I sended my gift on December 11th.

A small serve of sour grapes: that so few typophilers participated in this joyous open gift giving scheme says more about the typophilers who didn't. Ya know't ah mean? Reet? Reet?

j a m e s

James, very kind of you to suspect me (don't think there are other people with my kind on name around) , but I wasn't in, I saw the thread too late.

Sorry Mili, I got confuzed. For some reason I thought it was your present, even tho I now remember you posting that you saw this thread too late. That gives you some idea of the memory problems I have to live with, resulting from my double cerebral aneurysm in January 2007.

* I am an intelligent person
* I have a disability caused by memory problems
* typophile sure has some knee jerks (not you)

j a m e s
