What is blackletter metaphor?

I was confused with the use of blackletter metaphor. For contemporary, is it true that metaphor is use to convey hip hop and in heavy metal? Besides, this typeface is also give a feelings of 'old and classy'.

It's associated with "Goth" and unfortunately with skin-head racist politics as well.

I hope it can also be an elegant form, if used appropriately.
