First Things First Manifesto 1964 ... What is this typeface?

Fushia

Hello!

I am wondering what the typeface is that is used in the 1967 'First Things First' manifesto... for the 'first things first part.

Can anyone help?

It looks hand drawn to me.

This looks very similar to British Inserat. The letter 't' is violently different but just have a look at the link below

Hope it helps! Cheers!

Thanks Arjun, that font looks similar... however, unfortunately, if I want my idea to come together I will need the same one.

I have tried to identify it on Myfont and identifont- any suggestions on how else I could identify it???

I'd say this was drawn with a ruler, an ellipse chart, and a rapidiograph pen.

I would say drawn with ruling pen, compass, and straight edge but actually probablt cut out of Amberlith.

So I emailed Ken Garland, guy who initiated the manifesto and this is what he said:

nice to hear from you. I'm glad you found the manifesto of some use, even
after all these years.

as to your query: the headning type was hand-drawn by me; the text type
was
made by Ludlow Typograph Company of USA (now defunct) and was called
Recod
Gothic.

I hope you soon get pissed off with catfood, stripey toothpaste and
shaving
cream: no sort of diet for a forward-looking young person (which I assume
you are).
