Sans caps on "Motor Comptoir Zurich 1932" vintage poster by Otto Baumberger

Chriggystardust

hi, i’m new here, and as a part-time retro design fetishist i’m looking for a font used by Otto Baumberger on the poster above.

If anyone has an idea which one it is, give me a shout, please!

thanks... Chriggy

This is almost certainly hand drawn, and it does look gorgeous indeed.

yeah, the word “motor” suddenly looks nice to me... any idea what substitute font i could use (i mean i do start draw myself right now, but unfortunately the result won’t be gorgeous)? Chriggy

Phew, I’d have to check. There are quite a few Art Deco inspired digital fonts available, but I don’t know off the top of my head of any that are this wide and blocky. :^/

I think the R is out of proportion and the G is too heavy. But it is fun. You might like Anisette and Anisette Petite.

you were right, i like Anisette as well...

hey Miss Tiffany, what other fonts similar to Anisette can you suggest? i’m still looking for such a font to buy, Anisette IS great, but maybe there’s one that i’d like even more?

How about Mostra which is very affordable?

Bahnhof by František Štorm is in the same genre – but probably not as versatile as Mostra.

Check also TFRoux.
