It is a known issue – been for years.

The good news: there’s a workaround: Searching Typophile Archives via a favelet by Grant Hutchinson .

It's really a shame because it means people will ask again and again what, for instance, the Obama campaign font is, even after they've done a search on "Obama," which turns up nothing.
