Looking for a masculine sans serif typeface family with condensed, compressed, maybe wide weights

typesterone1

Hi out there,

i am just searching for a sans serif typeface family with condensed, compressed, maybe wide weights.
Just something newer like Titling Gothic, KnockOut, a testosterone loaded male font.
I hate Interstates ugly shapes.

Sadly Hoeflers Gotham does not have condensed, compressed fonts.

May anybody has a good tip.

Thank you

A classic would be House Gothic Condensed, which smells like leather, racing, gamehall gambling and all those things real men do when they are unattended. But probably that’s a little bit too much cliché, right?

Ah yes, same foundry: Maybe the sharp edged angles of United are testorenesque enough? *cough*

Changing foundry: Cactus by Gareth Hague, maybe?

Last one from me, promised! How about a condensed Bank Gothic with lowercases? That would be Morris Sans by Dan Reynolds.

House Gothic is a big family. This is exactly what i am not searching for. I wish it had more timeless glamour like Helvetica, Univers, Grotesque, Franklin Gothic, Gill, Akzidenz Grotesque. Any ideas?

Gotham?

How about National by Kris Sowersby? Plenty of macho in that one!

Gotham has no Condensed, Compressed. Otherwise it would be perfect.
National is a nice one.

Still searching

Don't see the condensed or narrow weights in them. But speaking of village-fonts: Flama comes with condensed cuts …

Ok, I lied, THAT will be the last suggestion by me. ;^D

Stainless has nice modern charme. Verlag is nice too. Is there not an alternative for Gotham oder Titling Gothic available?

Other question: Is there a thread with all links of all type foundries worldwide?

Still searching

And Proxima Nova by Mark Simonson has Condensed and Extra Condensed variants, 42 weights in all.

Is there a thread with all links of all type foundries worldwide?

Well, certainly not all, but you always can add missing ones:
Foundries

Furthermore:

FF Hydra has all the weights and manliness you could ask for:

I second that choice. FF Hydra is one mutha of a sans. I love it.

Thanks to all repliers,

the choice is not easy.
You made me many ideas.
As much as i like Gotham as a kind of modern Akzidenz I dislike the Condensed weights.

The "Foundries" link means a lot of work. It will be done.

Thanks a lot

Klavika by Process Type Foundry.
Check it out.

My personal favorite.
It's narrow by nature. No wide specimens available.

Sorry double post, can't seem to delete this one.

I'm digging Scout from Font Bureau... http://www.fontbureau.com/fonts/Scout

FF Clan?

It's gots to be klavika ...

... unless it's sansa, or perhaps it's masculinity is too understated. Check the slab, italic at the heavier weights at ourtype.be on their fancy contraption before you knock it out of the running.

If you liked Titling Gothic & KnockOut you might like Balboa from Parkinson.

It has italics too.

Some great suggestions already!

If you like the newer versions of the traditional gothics, you might like Benton Sans. It has compressed and condensed and with the black styles it can be quite masculine.

Antenna could also do the trick. It's a Cyrus Highsmith font from 2007 and it seems to be the font of the moment showing up in more and more magazines every day. But if you don't like Interstate you might think this has some "ugly shapes" too.

I hate to be prejudiced, but nobody has discovered the Headline version of good old Meta. It comes in Normal, Condensed and Compressed versions. And we amputated all those squiggly female bits.

I still love Amplitude but sadly, no italics.

"And we amputated all those squiggly female bits."

LOL!!! You did it very Metaculously as well :-)

Chris... no you didn’t!!!!! heeheheheh
