Hi, I’m looking for fonts that were inspired by/ derivatives of older fonts such as Arial, Baskerville, Bembo, Helvetica, Univers for a font encyclopedia kind of book we are writing. can anyone help?
Does anyone know of a website that could tell me?
Thanks!
Click on Resources (top right), go to Typography 101 and see that about all of the fonts Jonathan Hoefler presents as examples for different type styles are inspired by/revivals of older typefaces.
BTW, Arial is already “inspired by” Helvetica.
Read the books Anatomy of a Typeface and, if you can find a copy, Revival of the Fittest.
