(x) Swiss International Air Lines logo sans - CH Sans (custom face) {Rainer}

does anybody knows wath corporate font is used for swiss

Here’s a bigger image:

Reminds me of Univers, but it’s not.

Seems like an odd proportion in the red rectangle for the Swiss. I would have expected either a square or a route2 proportion. This nearly square seems out of character. I wonder how thwy chose it?

@Chris: I mucked about with the logo in Illustrator and there is no system to this thing at all. The squares have a 7:8 ratio, the whole something like 2 to not quite 1.
But this may be something to be expected: swiss is what became of Swissair after their bankrupcy. Somebody probably slapped this together in a hurry. ; )

PS Swissair had a really tight identity… Too bad.

Thanks, Bert!
Yes, Swissair was one of the first airlines with a solid identity.

As you may know, the re-branding was done by Tyler Brûlé and his Wink agency. You'll find some limited information (including a specimen of CH Sans) on the company portfolio site at http://winkorp.com/portfolio/index.html
Because it's a flash site you'll have to navigate to Branding > Swiss Intl Air Lines > Typography.

Thankyou Mark!
