David McKee Gallery light Gill Sans-like face

slokai

Anyone? it's similar to gill sans but not an exact match.
TIA

gill sans...

Looks like Gill Schoolbook/Gill Infant but I can't find a light weight online.

- Lex

Well thats what i thought it was and still do but I think the M is different so I cant be sure here's a link! Gill Sans

Thats a light there Lex, what do you think about the m?

The 'M' was probably taken from Futura. The rest looks like Gill Schoolbook.

- Lex

Don’t mean to hijack but... What are INFANT types???

Monotype has several “Infant” branded families.

"The ’M’ was probably taken from Futura. The rest looks like Gill Schoolbook"

Not sure of a few other characters either, the 'a' for instance. Isn't it two-storeyed in Gill Sans? The numeral '1' also looks wrong.

(Edit: Just managed to find a sample of Gill Sans Schoolbook. The 'a' and '1' are indeed correct. Posted too soon, apologies)

Where did you find a light version of Gill Sans Schoolbook, Arun?

Sharon

There were one-storey a's and Futura like "M's in Gill Sans, special lead cuts usually used in northern Europe. But the "R" doesn't look like Gill.

There’s a (custom) font similar to this one: Gill Sans “Volk und Wissen”.
“Volk und Wissen” is a German publishing company, specialised in educational / school books (as far as I know...).
Sorry, couldn't find a sample of this font right now though I remember seeing one in “Erste Hilfe in Typografie” by Hans Peter Willberg and Friedrich Forssmann.
I doubt that this font is available for the public. But i might be wrong.

I think the lc a is slightly different, so this is most likely an altered version of the original Gill Sans.

(e.g. AG Schulbuch / Schoolbook wd be another “infant font”)

Cheers,
Günni G.

thank you!!!
