(x) Location of "infinity" symbol {Chesh, Richard}

blemo

Does anybody know the shortcut key for the infinity symbol?

On the Mac it's option-5.

On a Windows machine you should use a Mac.

Surely infinity should transcend any little pc Mac squabbles.

How about ALT+0165

joking, joking, joking. sheesh.

Me too

Very simple: just type : and ) without a space between
them and you'll get :-) See? :-)
Shame about the smiley-incident: you both were quite
funny in your replies.

Bill, please keep in mind that the location of any "special
character" depends on which keyboard lay-out you're using.
For example, on my Flemish Azerty-keyboard infinity can be
obtained by pressing option-?

Actually, Richard, Alt + 0165 in a properly made Windows
font ought to get you the Yen symbol. While the infinity glyph
is part of the MacRoman character set, it is not present in
the 255 glyphs of the Basic Latin and Latin 1 Supplement
character sets used in Windows fonts. This page shows
other characters that differ between the two platforms.

You're right Mike, I should checked more thoroughly and made my post more clear.

I seem to recall that it was quite late at night and I wanted to get my 0.2

Aha .... Symbol.ttf. I had looked at Wingdings 1 through 3
and failed to find the infinity symbol. Good to know where
it can be found.

Of course Chesh has it easily at hand, but then he doesn't
have easy access to the 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2 fractions, which I
find infinitely more useful, or the superscript 1, 2 and 3.
