Dan, here's an overview of all the OpenType features (apart from kerning).

There's little contextual alternate OT things going on. I found the T-T and T-n,v,w,y,z substitutions so 'dominant' that I decided not to make this a default thing and moved them to the salt section. They are not real stylistic alternates, but it seemed the most appropriate place to put them.

I hope this will push you to the first place ;-)
Jos, my only complaint is that you're charging for the wrong fonts. You should have the thinnest and heaviest weights free and all the mid-range ones--the ones most people will use-- paid! At any rate, it's a beautiful piece of work, and I'm going to download it, perhaps even purchase the full range, before too long.
Thanks Eben! But this is a misunderstanding. It's not my blog – I only contribute there as an author since three years, if there is time remaining ... (not so often!) The blog is by these tough guys: http://www.slanted.de/node/1685 Lars Harmsen and Uli Weiss. A week ago they won the Lead Award for the best german weblog. They did also this very interesting project: http://www.bastard-project.com/ (site is in english language.) And they also are the editors of the wonderful type magazine: Slanted (english/german). It's really worth reading. I'm not quite sure, but I think they caught a price for their magazines also at TDC.

I understand your point, but I wanted it to be attractive and usable also for people who don't consider buying it anyway. It's an experiment to see if the extra traffic, this will generate, will pay off in more people buying the 'outer' weights. And yes there are lots of freeloaders and yes there are certainly people who buy Museo :-) Time will tell.
Jos, I just downloaded and tried out your fonts and they look just great. Thank you so much! My only request is to add oldstyle figures: they would look even better with this face than liner figures, which are quite charming. How about it??
And don't listen to the posters here who want you to charge through the nose like so many boutique foundries: your $30 bundle option will really move, don't worry.
I am only suggesting to charge heavy prices for fonts likely to be used mostly by magazines. In fact maybe charge even more. Like 3k+. If John wants those old style figures I suggest you charge him $30 for that next version of the font. And maybe throw in some more fun contextual extras.
Please specify what this means to you?...
Yes please do.
Taste-makers in typography are often freelancers who buy their own type. For their sake, $10-$12.50 per font should be the price. The best model is Storm Foundry, whose pricing has always been that moderate and who owe much of their success to such a policy. Or Emigre, where complete families cost $99. Every day I admire new typefaces from boutique European foundries and then gag at their prices. They think big corporations are the cutting-edge purchasers, and they're not! Dolly--only three fonts, no bold italic, for $205? Meet my middle finger, Underware!
You are far too generous, Jos. If I ever design a halfway decent font (which is about as likely as pigs flying), I will be sure to make it freely available in your honour.
I believe that generosity will meet generosity. And you've proven it right Alex :-)
Actually, I wonder how do you make a living Jos.
I'm an art director at an advertising agency for four days a week. Every friday it's type day!
I wonder if it wouldn’t be worthwhile to make a thin, thinner & hyper-thin version as well as extra fat versions (3 total?) and sell then for even more. Maybe much more. How about $300 per weight?
I like the idea of the extra weights, but I'm going to stay with my pricing strategy for a while. I'm more thinking of making a Museo Sans to accompany Museo right now.
My only request is to add oldstyle figures ...
I'll think about it.

About pricing in general: I think that everyone should do what he or she thinks is right. I'm not against heavy pricing or licenses that make you pay extra to use a font for a logo etc.
Maybe how I see it will prove wrong in time, but for now my sales have put Museo on 3rd place in the 'Starlets' list an on 49th place in the 'Best Sellers' list. And it's only available for four days.
Jos, you've heard the expression "talent will out"? Well, thanks to MyFonts, merit rises to the top of our type industry very quickly nowadays! See the article in the current issue of Communication Arts about the stunning impact of MyFonts on opening up all of typography to every young designer with strong fonts to offer. So we salute you, wish you the best, and hope to God you add those oldstyle figures!! Let us know if you do, so we can grab them! And we look forward to seeing other designs from you! You're doing everything the right way.
Man, you guys remember what Jos was charging before? How’s he supposed to go from everything free to $3k or even $30?
That's right Dan. Because I wanted to sell something to people who are used to get it for free, I had to take that into account.
... and hope to God you add those oldstyle figures!! Let us know if you do, so we can grab them!
If I do a Museo Sans it will be text face, so OSF will be incorporated. I really don't know if I'll update Museo.
You're very welcome Andre. And thanks Suzanne for your support! I'll think about the other weights.
If you ever do decide to do a hyper thin weight it will be a ton of work to get it right. Also, like I said the user of such a face is likely to be in publishing and could afford more. That is my rationale for the pricing I suggested. Also I think your work is strong enough to carry that. And lastly I think this face looks like the kind of thing a magazine or ad agency would be keen to get their hands on at extreme weights. I could be wrong. You could ask the folks who would know what they think too. But obviously you must do what you think is best. This is just my idea about it.
Wow! And a generous article in the latest "In My Face". Museo is now Starlets first and Best Sellers 6th. I guess I'm still shocked :-)
Jos, congratulations on the excellent launch of Museo! I have a small question about MyFonts.com and their tracking. In their statistics numbers (for the Starlets and Best Seller lists, etc) do they count free downloads as "sales," or are only the real-sales-for-money of the two priced-fonts counted?
If the free downloads don't count in these statistics, then the release method that you've chosen has been doubly effective! But even if the free downloads are included, congratulations are due all around.
Thanks Dan! I guess releasing it this way was the right thing to do for me. In both lists they rank the top "selling" fonts, so I assume they only list sales not free downloads. I wonder though how they count sales ... Is a font family sale counted as one? I have also had a couple of multi-user sales. Is such a sale counted as one? They must have a secret google-like algorithm to calculate all this ranking stuff, but I don't think the free stuff takes part in it, otherwise all free fonts would be in the top 10 of both lists :-)
I am disappointed that I didn't catch this thread earlier. That font really is something else, I bought the set. Has this selling strategy worked enough that if you release the sans you would put it at the same price? or would you step it up so that the people who got hooked on the display will want the complement? It seems like those interested in the text font would be wealthier parties.
It's a bit too early to tell if this strategy works. Because of the 3 free weights I *do* get a lot of attention on all kind of blogs and sites, but I don't know how long the 'impact' is going to last. For now I'm thinking of pricing the sans the same way and *maybe* offer a bit more for paying people and a little less for freeloaders (for example: 2 weights for free and 3 for $29,95).
