Typophile

Some kind of Gothic

Gregers™

This may be easy for the advanced typophile eyes.
I have tried to find it myself, looking at the horizontally cut terminals of the C, i first thought it could be Helvetica. Looking at the R however, that theory prooved wrong.
I believe it might be some kind of Gothic, not quite ITC AvantGarde Gothic eighter...

Running it through What the Font gives 3 responses: Europa, Nimbus and Helvetica, and for "COVE" I'd buy that, but the straight leg of the "R" doesn't jive with those responses. Unless it's a modified word. What is the origin of this image, that might help clarify things a little. Especially if this is a Logo.

What is the source of this sample?

It is the masthead of a Danish fashion magazine.

Where the sample is from.

Sorry Doubble post!!
Sometimes Firefox chokes on this page.

It's not anything digital that I know. The closest match is actually Helvetica with a straight leg 'R'. I'm going to predict a custom drawn logo.

Reminds me of Corporate S, especially the C.

Stephen I believe you are right. It must be custom drawn.
I cant match it with anything either. I was starting to get quite annoyed about this one, but i guess that sometimes you just have to leave it.
Cheers anyway.

Hey Jan
I just checked Corporate S, and you know what.. I think that might be the one, the extra bold version...

As usually, Jan comes sweeping in and obliterates everyone. Nice work!

It's not Corporate S Extra Bold :)

Uh??...

Thomas (poms) is right. It’s not. All I meant to say is that it shares similarities with Corporate S, kinda like a black weight (the Extra Bold isn’t bold enough).

Could it be a combination of Helvetica and Avenir??

Don't listen to Thomas. It is Corporate S Extra Bold...

edit: Damnit. I'm wrong.

All I meant to say is that it shares similarities with Corporate S, kinda like a black weight (the Extra Bold isn’t bold enough).

Hail to you Jan, yeah that was my first thought also, looking the "C" and the "R" – but all i said that it's not Corpo S, nothing more …

@Gregers
Maybe custom?

PS
I want an interpretation of a Neo Grotesk made by Michael Abbink ;)

I believe we must conclude it is a custom design. Must be based on Corporate S then.
I have just been looking at this for quite a long time now, not been able to Id it, and I can´t have that. :-)

Bigup for your help and enthutiasm.
