Sans with Swash

Patricia Fabricant

For a book cover that need to be girly yet modern I’m wondering if anybody has any suggestions for sans serif fonts with swash characters.

Stewf, this is a good time for one of your fabulous lists!

Aspect is visually fascinating but might not be girly enough for you.

William - that’s an intriguing font - I’ll consider it. Unfortunately my title doesn’t contain some of the more interesting characters.

I’d like to see fonts with swash capitals as well.

Check the PDF for Aspect for the swash caps. He shows them for about half the characters—though I wouldn’t be surprised if he has more than he shows.

Typecuts has a nice sans with swashes, though I don’t know if it’s for sale: Broadway Hollywood Swash.

I’ve allways thought Parisine Plus is a bit girly.

Doesn’t Auto 3 have swash caps?

I thought of Parisine too.

>Auto 3 have swash caps?

Ah, that’s it. That’s what I was remembering, but I got my wires crossed & thought it was Aspect—which is also fascinating, but more artsy and less natural. Auto 3 is great.

Nice! Right now I’m leaning a bit towards Aged, which I already own. It isn’t swashy but it is girly without being too twee. This needs to be a gift book but kitsch is not my thing. Anthropologie used Aged awhile back and that’s not a bad demographic to go for.

But keep the suggestions coming!

Dang that’s expensive! Only 3 weights for $120?

Emily is charmingly girly without being too much, I think. (Click on the regular, not borders.)

What about Coquette or Lisboa Swash (which isn’t clearly available at Fountain yet, but might be soon from the looks of Ricardo Santos’ site)?

Or maybe Titulata? Though it’s not as feminine as some others.

Sauna? Or has that become passé already...?

’Mein Schatz’, by Nina David, may be another alternate.

Dav(id)

I’d use Chianti for that purpose.

Thanks everybody for all the suggestions!

We left out Estilo

Has anyone released that Helvetica Flair yet?
