Harlow + MT Script Bold

Which one -- the top or the bottom one? The bottom one is Monotype Script Bold; the top one I know but can't remember the name (rats!).

See Harlow here.
And Script MT Bold here.

Harlow! Good one, Rainer. Reliable as ever. More than my memory anyway. :^)

you guys are amazing...thank you SO much. I love this forum

You are welcome, Ryan. And thanks for the flowers, oh Big Yves! ;^D

Well, but isn't the correct source font this one?

Prägefest
Ludwig & Mayer, Frankfurt am Main
Erstguß 1926
Eduard Lautenbach

Yes and no, Georg. According to my notes, Script Bold was Monotype's 1931, ahem ..., "version" of Lautenbach's earlier Prägefest. There are lots of little details that differ, though. Look at the construction of the 'n' and crossbar of the 't' for two examples.

… and the uppercase A, M, N (etc) for the most obvious. ;^D

I think Jürgen Siebert wrote something like »You can't protect the letterforms, only the name and the digitization« (Hope I remembered correct)

Well, of course its different. But I thought Praegefest was first and Monotype 1931 changed some minor details, so they did not hurt any copyrights. Am I to open to tell, how it is? Or am I wrong? However...

I'ld say the source font was Praegefest.
Mh? Yes, right: I don't like Monotype lead fonts too much.
But its only my personal opinion.

Georg
