(x) Ben&Jerry's font - Severance (proprietary) {Franz, Stephen}

emem_barnsley

Hi, can anyone tell me what fonts are used on the Ben and Jerry's ID? I'm not particularly looking for an exact match, just similar looking chunky fonts. In particular - the main logo's slab font with that gorgeous ampersand.

http://www.benjerry.com/

Thanks in advance.

It's called Severance, it was done inhouse and it's not for sale. See here for more information and similar faces.

The other 'chunky' font used on the site (for the buttons etc)is Block Berthold Heavy.

Nicely done fellers. Thanks for the help. Anyone know of any super fudge chunky slab fonts out there?

Hm, OL Egiziano Black is pretty chunky, Rio Grande too, and then there's always Stymie Black, dunno..

(If you like Franz Ferdinand, check out the new The Shins! :-) )

Oh, and Silica Black too.

Me too, The Walkmen especially, what a great album! Never heard of The Joggers.. I guess I can trust you on this, I'll go look for them. :-)

Ehrm, sorry Christopher!

Thanks fellers. Really feeling Rio Grande. It's a beast.

Re: The Shins - Fawking Awesome album. It's not left my cd player for 2 weeks!

Chris, you've got to help me, this has been bugging me for the last several days.. This thread made me check out the stuff on your website, there's that "Kate Walker" cover you did.. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the typeface you used for that, it's been troubling me for three days now.. What is it?

Yes, that was it!! Boecklin! Doh! Part of my brain was constantly trying to remember that name, now that you helped free it I can finally delegate actual work to it. :-) Thanks!

Thanks for the props fellers. Most kind.

The shaded Multiple Moorby font is actually BookmanBold ;)

The B&J font is gorgeous. It was custom made for their own use. I think it's one
of the more successful examples of a proprietary typeface design.

damn franz ferdinand

Some more:

Bernhard Bold Cond
Bernhard Antique
Lo-Type Bold - but don't buy from those jokers if you can help it

franz: Rock on. Love that album. Though I'd place FF more in a Walkmen,
Hot Hot Heat, Strokes, Joggers category. I like all those kids too.

Fatslab is another mega chunky by David Cushman of Dirtfonts.
Unfortunately he's closed up his shop at Chank Army.

That's Arnold B

And some ITC Souvenir. Shaded. :-)

You're making beautiful work, Chris. Me likes. A lot.

Thank GOD I'm not the only one with this problem. Franz you made
my day! (Sounds like a Typaholics Anonymous session} :-)

Ack...!

Heh heh, my mistake.
