What Font is this?

Bumblebee8

I have been asked to reproduce this logo and am having a hard time finding the font that the word “Easton Douglas & Co.”
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gabrielle,
that’s the notorious Bauhaus.
F

Thanks Florian, but its definitely not Bauhaus, close but not it.

Ummm...looks like it to me too! Is there something specific that we’ve missed?

If you look at the letter “x” in Bauhaus, you’ll see that it isnt Bauhaus.
Bauhaus has the traditional straight lined x, whereas this has more curvature to it.
Has me completely stomped.

Which Bauhaus are you looking at? See the versions in the Bauhaus-style Font ID Guide. I think this is ITC Bauhaus.

Thanks much for all the help!

My wife was given a book from someone she sold an item to on Ebay and it was set in Bauhaus, uhm she kindly referred to it as “Outhouse”. Unreadable

The Truth shall set you free

Mike, that’s a really comprehensive list of Bauhaus fonts, great. I have two others you could add that look similar:
Cupertino
Mr Jones

Thanks Ben. I am reluctant to add those, partly because those sources are not ones where you can be sure the names are the real ones, if you know what I mean. In most cases I have tried to use the original names of the font designs in my Guides, if I have a way to confirm them. Usually if I know the name of the designer, or get it from an actual foundry, or see it in a font book, then I feel confident about the authenticity of the font name.

Indeed, Mike. Cupertino is a digitization of Motter Tektura. The other looks familiar (VGC?), but I don’t know.

:) Yes, Motter Tektura is the proper one! It’s a hard thing to know what’s what sometimes. There’s a lot of dubious fonts out there. Those unfortunate caps in Cupertino should have warned me! The other I believe is original.
Thanks for your list all the same.
