(x) Lost in Translation - Kabel {Franz}

Non-ITC Kabel!
(Also see here and here)

This use of Kabel forced me to rethink my negative feelings about
the face. Adored the film too.

okay, I dont want to sound like a cheap bastard, but is there somehwhere that offers this font for free? I need to use this font ONCE for a one time only thing and then probably wont use it again... non-commercial

I understand your dilemma, Corey. Unfortunately this is like
saying "could I have Photoshop for free? I am not a designer and
I'll only use it this once." In many ways, the production of fonts
depends on revenue to keep it alive.

damn... see I'm making an 'ultimate soundtrack' for myself of songs and stuff that didnt make the real movie soundtrack (the Peaches song from the strip club, for one) and some dialogue bits, and was going to add them to the titles to the back cover of the soundtrack.. you know, basically add two lines to the tracklisting and thats it..

beh, i'll write it in with pen. thanks anyway.

If you have a Mac, and you don't mind a similar look, Futura
comes with OS X.

you know what, i'm an idiot.

just as I am about to write on my soundtrack back cover, my girlfriend comes over and comes downstairs and asks what I'm doing...

she has the font, like 6 versions of it, so I'm gonna put my files on disk and finish it on her comp and print it...

alls well that ends well! thanks for helping me identify it though!

Ah, the wonders of advanced search... :-)

Yves, shame on you! Visiting other forums to have an opinion. You are supposed to identify strange and foreign typefaces here, and not go straying to other forums that don't ID fonts. Shame on you

Just you try and stop me, buddy!

No! Jared, Joseph, please, not the chains again!
No! Don't tie me to the Type ID Board. I'll be good!
Please...

Yves, you always make me laugh

Walter Tracy, in 'Letters of Credit' has a wonderfully appreciative critique of Koch and of Kabel. He does think the Kabel e is not good - which is not in the title you cite.
