Is there software out there that I can use to quickly create grids with units equal to whole numbers so that baselines will all align with the grid? An Indesign plugin for Mac would be ideal.

You can customize your doc grid, baseline grid, and margins/guides anyway you like. Maybe I don’t get the question.
I don’t want to avoid setting up the grid, I want to avoid crunching the numbers involved in making sure that my grid has units and margins divisible by the leading.
