(x) script faces on 50's picture postcards - various {gang}

Richard Andrews

Hi
This is a real annoying one, I shall apologise in advance; Im after the font, or something similiar, thats generally used in 50's (I think) American postcards which read 'welcome to...' then the name of the state or city, which in turn, has images within the typeface.

Unfortunately I cannot find an example anywhere, can anyone put me out of my misery by assisting with both example and ID?

Thanks
R

The "welcome to" part was often as not Brush Script. The city name with the pictures in it was always done by hand.

also, Coronet, if Brush Script wasn't handy.

Richard, you can find thousands of examples

Also House Industries has a kit called "Sign Painter http://houseind.com/house.php?kit=SIGN-FO
which has a lot of Brush-type fonts.

I'm a total type geek and can't believe I didn't know about this site before... I'm usually the one my friends ask but I'm humbled by the pros here.

Welcome to Typophile, Patricia. I noticed tho you're new
here, you immediately dove in and started contributing.
Great. :-)
