Typeface like Carter's Alisal

Dan Gayle

I’m currently searching for a nice, chunky typeface that has a similar style lc A as Matthew Carter’s Alisal typeface, but with a more useable lc G. Any suggestions?

Stephen pointed out Figural earlier today.

What isn’t usable about the lowercase g? (kinda being sarcastic.)

I like it. But it’s sorta like Goudy Sans’ upper case A. Nice, but once is enough.

Can you describe what you mean by “chunky”? It’s one of those words that has a different meaning to every reader — especially when describing type.

I think I know what you mean by chunky. Low contrast- correct? I would say Figural and Palatino is as close as your gonna get.

Or how about something you can’t have yet:

Don’t you love that!?

PS... speaking of wacky lowercase g’s

Okayyy

In that case, ITC Mendoza.

Mendoza has it! I think that’s exactly what I was looking for. (Too close actually. I was looking for something like what the Seattle Poat-Intelligencer uses as a secondary serifed headline font. After closer examination, ITC Mendoza IS what the P-I uses.)

+1 for Stewf
