I'm nearing completion of the first weight of my font, and for the sake of the exercise, I want to get the font as close as possible to a condition in which it could be sold.
So far, the work I've done can be broken up into:
1) Creation of glyphs; arrangement in FontLab
2) Metrics/kerning
3) OpenType features (just ligatures in my case)
4) Setting font info/name
5) Output to .otf file
Those are of course the basic steps, but I'm sure there are a lot more details that need to be taken into account before a font is really "ready" for mass consumption.
