(x) Vintage sans, similar to Gill Sans - Metro {Yves}

finder

Here is an image of an old note I’ve recently received. It looks like Gill, but the Q says maybe different. Any Ideas?

That’s W.A. Dwiggin’s Metro, also known as Geometric 415 from Bitstream.

Great, thanx

BTW They used the alternate a and g. This looks pre-digital, innit?

You might also like H&FJ Verlag or Cyrus Highsmith’s Relay

Yes. Pre-digital. No one has had the where with all to release a nice black like that yet.

FontHaus sells the Metro Sans series from GroupType:

Another option: Metro Office, the odd remix by Akira Kobayashi/Linotype which uses the two-story a and double-bowl g:

BTW, it’s “wherewithal.” ;)

Thanks, Mark. My spellcheck was no help on that one. :^D

Damn, I didn’t understand what you meant. That’s why! :^D

The new FontShop agenda by Research Studios has a very funny one. Check it on Unzipped; the image is legible.

Your link isn’t working Yves. Where’s it supposed to go? I want to see.

Weird, it works for me. I just clicked it and it redirected me to http://www.fontshop.be/details.php?entry=238.

Here’s the image anyway:
