What heights would you go to for good letter spacing?

He must have used InDesign which doesn't have kerning pairs.

What do you mean about InD? It has kerning on by default.

Yeah, but it lacks kerning tables, a real pet peeve of mine. Quark has them. I don't think all fonts are well kerned/hinted and it's nice to be able to set up the tables only once and know that they will be applied every time you use the font.
