Can anyone ID the attached vintage federal gov’t correspondence typefaces?

1. (FCC1.jpg) — letterhead from FCC stationery 1981
2. (DIA1.jpg) — letterhead from DoD stationery 1977 (close to #1)
3. (DIA2.jpg) — DoD envelope return address 1977
4. (DIA3.jpg) — DoD envelope PSA-text 1977 (appears same as #3)

Thanks in advance!

1, 2 and 3 (maybe and 4): Cooperplate Gothic

I believe the fourth example is a metal version of trade gothic. Maybe Trade Gothic Extended #2 (or something like that). Its a trade gothic. ;)

The first three are Copperplate Gothic.

Oops, spelling mistake.

Thank you, Kyle for that and the fourth one.

Thanks for the quick response...

I don’t see any serifs on sample 3, however — after being directed to Trade Gothic for sample 4, I found one that looks like it might be a match (to my admittedly unpracticed eye):

Trade Gothic LT Std Bold Extended OT

What do you think? :-)

Last two could also be Sackers Gothic, but I suspect they are all Copperplate and the lack of serifs is just spread in the printing.

I’m adding that “penalty for private use, $300” to all my personal letterhead.

I’m not going to agree that the latter is a Copperplate. There is just no evidence of serifs. That, and it is very close to a Trade Gothic (or sackers Gothic)
