Vanna Likes Arial and Helvetica

amyp

At the end of Wheel of Fortune this evening, Pat and Vanna were talking about their favorite fonts and Vanna said she uses Arial and Helvetica. Ok, so I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I was watching The Wheel, but it is worth public ridicule to bring this to the attention of typophiles everywhere.

Hey, Wheel of Fortune is awesome. I grew up with it and I still watch it. Vanna is still foxy after all these years, too.

Although I don't know what the deal with her using Arial is. Maybe when she doesn't have Helvetica close by and handy?

When you look like Vanna, you can use any font and it looks good, as long as you are wearing it.

Oh, I used to watch the Wheel religiously... that, backed with Jeopardy, was a pre-primetime delight. What's not to love? Giant letters, all lit up... Yum.

Well, at least she knows that they aren’t the same typeface. That’s a good sign.

Maybe she saw Gary’s movie...

>Vanna said she uses Arial and Helvetica.

Obviously a Mac user or an iPhone owner - those lucky devils get both fonts. ;-)

No mention of Akzidenz Grotesque, huh? Just another pretty face after all. ;p

The Wheel was so much better before The Pat Sajak Show. Anyone care to field the chronology of typefaces used on the game board over the years?

Ricardo, that's awesome! See...I am not alone!

Someone ought to invite her to attend the Helvetica movie.

Hi, Amy! Of course you're not alone!
But me, I need to sit down and do some serious Wheel viewing! :-)

I didn't realize it until now, but I saw your presentation at the New York TypeCon in 2005. Nice to see you here on Typophile.

Hello to you too! I'm around here every so often. I mumbled through about 10 minutes at Typecon in Seattle on this newer project: www.sonotype.com. Wait, am I hijacking my own thread? ;)
