Anyone know the name of the font used in JCrew's fall 2007 stuff...

Thanks,
--Michael.
Could't find an exact match, but there are several close faces at Blambot http://www.blambot.com/fonts.shtml (esp "Sketchpad Note") or Comicraft (possibly JeffCampbellSignature http://www.comicbookfonts.com/fonts/CL/catalog.html?item=fonts:cl316&sid...) or JimLee http://www.comicbookfonts.com/fonts/BL/catalog.html?item=fonts:bl008&sid...
Me, too, Brett... It's the R (and the 5) that seemed so familiar to me, too.
I emailed Mike Yanega to ask him to weigh in...

Hi Michael,
Just saw your e-mail. I think I have seen this before, and I think I have it in Part 11 of the Script Font ID Guide. We are going out the door in a few minutes, so I'm afraid I don't have time to chase it down, but I think it's in there.

Thanks, Mike, for checking in on this one...
I went through the 25 pages of Part 11, but didn't find an exact match.
I'll keep on a-hunting! ;-)

I've searched Dafonts 'Handwrtten' category, Part 14 of the Script Guide, Ronna Penner's (Typadelic) collection, Chank's GFY Handwrting fonts, and I started looking through the 'Handwriting' fonts at MyFonts. That's when I saw Font Garden Matilda and some bells went off, but it was only 'close but no cigar'. I could almost see the same person doing our 'mystery font'. (However, this was the closest of the fonts by this designer (Ellinor Maria Rapp) shown at MyFonts, though several others showed this odd kind of 'R'.)
I am sure I have tried finding this one before, and thought I got an answer, but now I am not sure if I only came up with a similar alternative, like 'Divine'. You know our FAQ statement about hand-printed fonts still applies. Maybe this ad designer had a custom font made. The approach is perfect for a 'signature' style. Maybe it was used in more than one ad, and that's where I saw it before? There comes a time when it seems pointless to keep hunting. Are we there Brett?

what about we have a whip-round to hire a private detective to track down the catalogue's designer? :0)
thanks for all the work mike *deep breath* i'm going to let this one go... *exhale*
what about you michael... you gonna keep on looking? let me know if you do find it! (damn... and i thought i'd let it go)
Yeah, I'll keep going. If you see this thread brought to the front page of the ID section again, check back in! :-)
