A few comments:

1. It doesn’t really “hang together” well. Each element looks separate from the others.
2. The silhouette of the angel(?) isn’t very clear.
3. What is shooting out of the angel’s hands?

Thanks, Les -

1. I’ve thought about having “creative” on the same line as “poco.” Maybe that would help with pulling it together more.

3. It’s a conductor’s baton.

I think you might trying to communicate a lot in your mark. Do you think Poco might have a negative meaning for your company name? Little Creative...hmmm. In a second thought it also is quite interesting. Kinda like the david and goliath idea. Small, but powerful. The angel, I just don’t think I like. Maybe instead of an actual angel you have wings incorporated somehow or a halo. Typography, I like the feel of ’poco’, ’creative’ doesn’t seem to connect with the feel of ’poco’. Anyway, just some thoughts.

Thanks for your thoughts and tips. I guess I am trying to say a lot, and I don’t necessarily want to emphasize the angel/spiritual, but I thought it was a neat idea. I had a bird/dove at first with just a ’lady’ (not angel), but it kind of seemed to resemble a towel (ha), and I can’t seem to find the perfect font for ’creative.’ These were mockups along those lines that I made last month but dismissed (just rough screenshots).

Certainly the david / goliath is what I’m implying with the name and any mark ideas... Before the ’angel’ idea, here is what was going through my head concerning the little/big concept...

So you can see I’m still quite in the brainstorming phase. IMHO I am more gifted at coding than graphic design, but I think surely I can come up with something I am pleased with to represent myself to clients. I can be patient and work at it, but at the same time I want to get it up on my main site in the near future, so I will have something substantial for my business.

I think you will need to work with an illustrator on the angel – it is too unclear at the moment and won’t create a good impression. The combination of script and geometric type styles I find jarring, the proportion and composition is not helping, I would look at a less geometric sans or all script.

In brainstorming mode, maybe you could use ‘the best things come in small packages’ as another option.

Tim

you could use ‘the best things come in small packages’ as another option

Or for that matter, “smaller by design” maybe?

Thanks. back to the drawing board (wacom tablet) . . .

ummm ... wow

Thanks for thinking of using my Blippo black, but it is too irregular for legibility.

Sorry to delete, but it was an insomnia night last night when I posted and I always think I’m brilliant then. So I respectfully withdraw my suggesstion. :-)

I will say that it encouraged you to simplify.

Sharon

Have you done any pencil sketches. I always find it extremely useful to sketch with a pencil. Just scribble. Think on paper, it helps get the ideas out. You might find that you will hit a wall and the ideas aren’t coming anymore. Keep sketching through that wall, on the side is where the good stuff lays.

Wish you success!

I went a different direction and feel pretty good about this now. I decided to make the “o” and “r” into a flower and chose “Allise” font. Thanks for your suggestions.

There’s a few kerning problems, but overall this is a much better logo.

Make the following pairs a little looser and we’ll see how it looks:
’p’ and the blossom, ’c’ and the stem, “ea”, “ti”, “iv”.

Also, tighten up the blossom and ’c’ a bit.

Thanks a lot for the feedback... graciously taken!

I’m wondering, though, if it scales “funny” on web... I made a mockup page today (on Safari) and scaled it to 140px wide.... and when I looked at a screenshot in Internet Explorer, it looked very grainy. Ring a bell for anyone??

You (if you’re on IE) can see what I’m talking about here http://pococreative.com/wp

That’s because you’re using inline scaling (never a good idea). Scale it down in an image editor before you upload it.

(Shew.) I was hoping it was that and not something else. Makes sense. Thanks!

I would suggest altering the “v” and “i” dot to be softer instead sharp and pointy. other then that it’s come a long way. good job.
