Titling Gothic. You might also like the similarly expansive grotesk family FF Clan, though it's more modern.

Titling Gothic: Another lovely font with bad unusable eth ..grrrrrr.

Email Font Bureau, Oscar. I'm sure they'd love to have some input from a native speaker.

I had no idea what "eth" was so I looked it up. It took about five minutes...

If it's so wrong, how come David Berlow doesn't know what "eth" should look like? Strange...

Thorn and eth: how to get them right by Gunnlaugur SE Briem

Thanks for the answers.

I’m still looking for the serif inside the magazine but I don’t have any image of a spread.

The crossbar on that Titling Gothic eth reminds of the T-Rex's arms.

The eth is so wrong it's not even funny hehe

I've had lots of talks via email regarding eths. Some type-designers are very nice and fix the eth after I point it out and send jpg samples for comments. Other have given me lectures about how people like Gunnlaugur Briem don't know how to design fonts and refuse to accept that their eth is wrong. Seriously, I've gotten emails from two of the "top" type-designer that try and dispute me.

eth is a tough one due to the fact that it's only used in Iceland and Faroe Islands (as I know of)
I don't blame people for designing it wrong but I try and point it out when i can and hopefully designers will remember some guy sending them an email nagging about some eths or maybe see something about this on Typophile ;)
Was going to send David Berlow/Font Bureau a note on this.

Sigurður Ármannsson has some notes on making eths as well: http://font.is/?p=7

On the other hand, Briem is too chirographic to attain the pinnacles of type.

BTW, the lc thorn has a certain problem, in that -especially in fonts
that have very short descenders- it looks unbalanced. What do people
think of making its ascender a bit short, possibly to the height of the
"t" or the dot of the "i"?

What about this eth which comes from the font of the current Typofile Type ID Pop Quiz V2.3?

(Guess removed. And if you saw the guess please
sit out the current instance of that quiz thread.)

hhp

Yes, but you are not supposed to say... This is the Type ID quiz... Or, I guess, you post your answer on the quiz, win, and choose the next challenge.

Yeah, I definitely need to spend more time on Typophile...

I guess point to this thread, and if I'm
right, tell them I'm giving you my turn.

hhp

I see that hrant's edit moved his post to the bottom... edit bug; hrant correctly identified the font as Gentium and was nice enough to propose the next challenge on the type id quiz.

"I’m still looking for the serif inside the magazine but I don’t have any image of a spread."
FB TG and Miller are the fonts they use.

The sign of eth is rising in the air.

"If it’s so wrong, how come David Berlow doesn’t know what “eth” should look like? Strange..."
A thousand fonts might show, but if you don't look, you'll never know. ;)

I simply asked myself, "Can't a voiced dental fricative wave once in a while?"
Or must it remain erect whilst the entire lower cavity of ones head vibrates? I felt not, and I think this design, radical as it may seem, is better than the look of a straight bar.

Nevertheless, being but a humble English-speaking tool-maker I'm not in the business of denying whatever erect and proper traditions whatever people require of whatever letters I make and I had no intention of crossing Briem or anyone else on Icelandic issues. If any Faroese, Icelanders, Anglo-Saxons, medieval Scandinavians, iconophiles or customers of any kind need this to be straightened out, by all means, when ordering FBTG add a note to "please Briem-o-matic l.c. eth". Same as if already purchased, we guarantee our eth as if our very eths were at stake.

"FF Clan, though it’s more modern."
One of the other things I asked myself long before I got the eth, is "Isn't it time for some nice display sans that do not have gigantic lowercases?"

Cheers!

Word! :^D
