My guess is a backslanted Garamond italic in a heavier weight.
Try for example Adobe Garamond bold italic.
And some squooshing is made, too, me thinks.

Garamond 3, maybe, squooshed. I can’t use my Garamond 3 for some reason so I can’t test it. How quickly do daft jumping zebras vex?

Edit: It looks like the small print is set with the same face.
