SDCMC - Custom Lettering Mark.

Working of the basic shape for this word mark I am doing. Im looking for some guidence here. The 'S' seems to be giving me quite a lot of grief... let me know what you guys think.

I think the "S" just needs a stiffer spine - like a section of it totally straight.

hhp

Yes,straighten the endings a bit too. The "D" has too much height compensation.

Thats it?

Ok here are my revisions..

Tiffany --
Well, in thought, the 'wave' was part of my original concept. More of action, or movement than a wave perse. Its really hitting a younger 18-24 aged market. The 'D' I had worries of being percieved as an 'O', maybe I have over compensated though? Hrant had proposed possibly straightening out the bottom arms of the 'C's' maybe this would give it a little more of an anchored feeling. How do you feel about that?

Hildebrant.

FYI --

The mark will also be grouped with the actual acronym words (Scottsdale Dream Center Master's Commission)

Im considering PMS 416 as one of the colors.. trying to settle on a secondary color right now.
I may visualy seperate the SDC from the MC by using two different colors, or possible a lighter tint of one solid color.

Here is a rough idea, similar to what I mentioned.

Yes, I do prefer those flat bottoms.
The tint-separation is fine - but I did just realize that the "S" is too heavy.

hhp

Kyle did you want to make it look like it was a folded card? What is a Dream Center Masters Commission? I'm just curious

Daniel -- Folded card? Im afriad you lost me there. The program is a youth, well 18-24 aged program. Realy a multi faceted, media type school. Drama, dance, multimedia... and such. very diverse group of students. It is a Christian based organization too.

Im trying to figure out best how to get the words in there. Its so long.

Kyle, I was just reacting to the letterforms. If you drew parallel lines at the angles of your type above and below the type it would have a folded effect. Maybe its just me. Did you create a mark to go along with it? If I had to ask what the name meant, maybe alot of people will have to ask. Something along the lines of shilohettes of dancers on a christian symbol stage. Just a thought.

Ok, I think I'm happy with this, the anchored letters work much better.

let me know what you guys think.

and with color scheme

Just put a slight slant on the bottom of the "D" as well.
And tighten the "CM" a hair.

hhp

Try this out.

The best thing about this is that the client will say, "ohh, that 'font' is ok, I dont mind that." Somtimes I wonder why I even bother, then I realize it's because... well, I tell myself something different each time. :-)

I swear, this forums posting, its like a sick little game. You have to wait 30 seconds, maybe hit the browser back button, wait for the error, then go see if it actually posted. I'm really ready for this to be fixed.

Found a little glitch in the D on the last.

Working on a crown addition to this mark.
It will sit atop the 'M' glyph.

What's with this crown mania all of a sudden? :-)

hhp

Crown Mania? really?

Well in line with the 'mania', I present to you... my additions.

I meant the "Body & Mind" thing - which I guess was just a mis-post.

hhp

How do you feel about the crown shape? I think the details may not be the best idea at smaller sizes, I may opt for two different versions though. Say the more detailed for larger situations, ie. signage.

Hildebrant.

IMO -- Because of the angles of the D and C there is a bit of a visual wave going on. Do you mean for this? I wonder if the angle of the D is a bit too much? Also, does the D seem too wide? I suppose the width of the D helps balance out the width of the M, but the visual wave seems too much even still.

When you add the _words_ below the _acronym_ it might be that they are enough of a _flattening agent_ ... hmm .... I don't know. I do like the color separation though, it gives the teensiest visual rest from the up and down motion.
