Font for jewelry?

Charlotta

I am a jewelry designer and my website is under construction. I have chosen Perla which I love, but I've searched for something more "feminine" and kind of "swashy", yet I don't want it to be too frilly. I must have looked at hundreds and hundreds of fonts before I fell for Perla, but maybe there's something I've missed...?

Do set it in caps or do you use the unicase letters?

Uups, Sorry for the doublepost

Hi Charlotta,

Do you set Perla in caps or do you use the unicase letters?

Hey, Steven, I use the unicase. Perla in caps looks like Modern no 20 and other fonts I tried out earlier. I love that "little extra " with Perla but maybe there's something even nicer that I haven't seen?
I am a major control freak - I just need to be happy with Perla and go on with my (life) website. :-) It's hard to find a font that's both feminine and simple though.

Now that's a telling observation.

firstly, a quick ;-) to hrant

secondly, typefaces like bliss and gill are feminine and simple when used in light weights

Glad I could make you laugh... I wasn't really talking about women, but then again, "masculine and simple" is probably as much of an oxymoron to us. ;-)
Let me rephrase it - a font that has a "swash" to it but isn't too ornate. Is that comprehensible enough for the masculine species? ;-)

Taking Brett’s suggestion of Bliss, Aspect has a swashy simplicity to it.

Here's some thoughts...
Questal from Insigne (be sure to look at the alternate characters):

While at the Insigne site, check out Valfieris, too.

Peotica also has some nice features, feminine without being delicate (although a bit "old-fashioned" looking for my taste):

Thank you for the suggestions. I liked Questal bold best - it kind of reminds me of Democratica. Still, Perla is nicer than anything I've seen so far. I agree with you on Poetica - not really my style either. :-)

Are you using the metal clay process for your jewelry making? I only ask because we sell photopolymer plates to several hobby/craft jewelry makers and they use these as moulds.

I've not yet seen any type used though.

Here's an article by Stephen Coles on fonts that have some similarlity to Perla--might give you some other options.

Gerald - No, I don't work with metal clay.
