OT symbol of knowledge in Middle East?

Aleksander Lenart

Hi,

I’m about to design a training certificate for a company in Middle East region. I’d like to incorporate a symbol of knowledge as part of the artwork. But the problem is the meaning of symbols might be very different in different parts of the world.

For example a popular symbol of knowledge/wisdom in Poland (Europe) is an owl but who knows what it means in Kuwait?

A kind of safe symbol might be a book but maybe there is something different and more specific for Middle East culture?

Oh, also any references to Middle East ornaments would be much appreciated.

Perhaps a light?
I’m fairly certain that an owl is insulting in some cultures.

Any source of light like a candle or the illuminating Arabic Noon used here. Consider a candle-like pen, or a pen-like candle.
Happy Designing.

Thanks guys,

So the light. Any example of such candle? I feel like entering the unknown.

Sorry, I forget the wise hoopoe, Solomon’s Messenger!
While trying to locate a candle, how about a hoopoe head emitting light?!

Maybe an oil lamp would be easier to represent, although avoid it being genie-ish, because a candle is a candle.

Or a Candle for the rational or a flying pen for the fonty!

Here are 2 more suggestions for your consideration:
1. A flying pen with 2 open books as wings.
2.Timd’s avatar + Mine with or without?!!?
Rational or fonty?

I like that.
