Anybody know GST Polo

Has anybody out there ever heard of the typeface GST Polo by Georg Salden. Just found it in a book by Erik Spiekermann. It says there that it was created in 1972. It sure looks like the grandpa of all what Spiekermann became famous for (Officina, Meta, Unit).

MyFonts doesn't even list Salden as a designer.

I just heard a lecture of Georg Salden two weeks ago at the "forum typografie", and he also talked about Polo. from what he (and Luc de Groot) said, I concluded that there seems to be… well… a disagreement concerning the originality of Meta.

But, as i said, that's all just by hearsay.

Salden is nowadays selling typefaces via www.typemanufactur.com. There are only a few of them available there, I think he designed dozens more. Very nice guy, by the way.

Yeah, I read about that disagreement somewhere.
From what I read in that book by Spiekermann I mentioned (published 1989) I conclude that he sure was a big fan of Salden.
In fact the whole book is set in Polo.
I did find the website too.
I was just wondering if anybody ever used the font.

Darn, too bad the images on that site are so small you can't really see the typefaces.

page magazine used to be set in polo. maybe it still is, i haven't read it for a while.

damn, i messed up the link. here it is:

www.page-online.de

I think you can find a pdf with sample pages of "Page" under this link:

The German party CSU uses Polo as their main font (not the logo, however).

See this PDF, for example.

Oh, and not to forget e.on, one of Germany's biggest power suppliers:

Plenty of PDFs there as well.
