Alias.dat-file in FontLab.

Göran Söderström

Hello,

I am wondering about the possibilities to modify the alias.dat file to match the encoding file I’m using. It seems rather obvious what to do, but it doesnt work.
For example:

In the encoding file these exists:

O
o.small
hungarumlaut
ohungarumlaut.small

In the alias.dat, I added these values:

o.small O
ohungarumlaut.small o.small+hungarumlaut

Shouldnt it work? I’ve restarted FontLab 5.02, but not the computer but it does not work as I want to.

Is there something else I need to “adjust”?

Thanks in advance

I am afraid there are more copies of alias.dat installed with FL. Try to find all the “alias.dat” files on your disk. I think you don’t edit the right one.

Ah, I see.

I did a search and your absolutely right. I try edit the other one.

Thank you very much, Filip :)

PS. Btw, I got this encoding file from Peter at Fountain for a upcoming font there, so if I’m not wrong – it’s the one you created :) Just wanted to say, it’s a really great encoding file, Filip. It makes things a whole lot easier when building.
