Sign of the coming Apocalypse ???

House Industries designs some of the world's finest type... but this is just flat-out wrong.

And perhaps an interior design buff here might remember an advert for a pop-art themed Bisazza mosaic tile motif also featuring a scandalous showing of Countryhouse.

Folks- start building those backyard fallout shelters.

Mikey :-)

I find it somewhat amusing, to be honest. The person who chose the font probably did too.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me much- it (hopefully) tells me more about what the person was like than what the usual gravestone would.

I believe James worked at the Willy Wonka factory for many years, so the font choice is fitting. He lived in a world of pure imagination.

oh, The Onion, they never stop.

Are you kidding me? This is FANTASTIC!! I didn't even know you could get a custom font on a headstone like this...this opens up possiblities. Now all I have to do is decide which one of my fonts I want on mine...what better way to leave a testimonial to my life. Of course that's AT LEAST 50 years away :)

hilarious. i'm pretty sure that's a photoshop fake, but it does raise some enticing possibilities for custom gravestones. the technology today allows it.
template guided precision grinding, etc.

i might go for the controversial "the last stonecutter just died" look...
just to aggravate the type snobs !

groan. sorry i couldn't resist
;-)

That's obviously Photoshop, but yes, you could get any font you want laser-etched into a headstone. There is actually a market for hideous themed tombstones, so maybe designers should start getting into that business and clean them up a little

Not a tombstone, far, far worse in my opinion

Countryhouse? Oh, dear. *Chuckles.*

hrant> I love love it!! I forgot about the beautiful African coffins. Hmm... a mercedes or a fish?

Actually I would like my remains processed like this:

Put me in the crystal blue waters off of Dumaluan Beach, or maybe near Bungan- another special place in Bohol Philippines.

Mikey :-)

In my case, if they lay me on my side in sort of a fetal position (how
fitting, eh?!) an Armenian letter Ho shape should be just the ticket!

I'm actually designing my uncles headstone right now. It was an interesting discussion with the sales representative. She couldn't figure out why I wanted to hand over a photo ready piece of art. I told her, "I want to be able to come to my uncles marker and think about him, not 'kerning is off.'"

Jac>>>

No kidding, right! I mean “He was such a nice—the kernings off—uh, anyway, he was really very nice...”.
No one is gonna care as much you do—if you want something done right, you have do it yourself.

Mike :-)
