Hi,

I’am new here and I would like to present my self.

My name is Marc from Montréal (speak french, would like to apologise about my bad english) I am a freelance Graphic Designer and also a typophile.

I’am now working (couple of Months) on my fonts who are going to be name Azoumbie

I’ve been reading this forum for about two days and the atmosphere seen to be very good.

Take care,
Marc

unknown

Welcome, Marc. Don’t worry; your English is more than good enough (certainly better than my Spanish). Definitely post “Azoumbie” as soon as you feel ready for some feedback — I’m always eager to see new typefaces.

unknown

Yes, welcome.

unknown

yes, welcome ! you’re in for a treat.

i’m new too and i’m very impressed by this community, whether discussing design details or arguing politics. the forums are varied, the conversation is lively, and the expertise is generous and priceless.

i’m not exactly a typophile, mostly a motion-graphics art director, but i’ve found this site to be a fascinating resource made up of very special people.

cheers to everyone !

unknown

Welcome! I’m happy to see another Montrealer.

Enjoy!

Hi, Marc! Benvenu to Typophile. :-)

unknown

Welcome Marc & congratulations on the name for your font! Judging by its name it promises to be a cool font. I hope to see it in the critique forum someday soon.

unknown

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcoming !

Auricfuzz,
You will see it today or tomorrow

Eben,
Thanks

CH,
I dont know about the defenition of typophile here, but for me typophile it’s not someone who made a fonts but someone who love typographie. About me, I do not consider my self like a typograph (someone who make font, because I am a newbie) but I am a typophile for sure

Kritina,
HI, yes it’s very cool to see another person of Montréal, do you speak french a little bit ? I saw a threat who you were talking about a bilingual job you done (not sure, I did not understand all) I would loved to see it but you edited the links.

Ricardo,
Gracias Sénior ;)

Ill sans,
Let’s me explain about the name. Fist I have a lot of wood statue came from Afrika in my house, they all play a role to protect the house (I know, I’am weird ! -LOL-_). Each statue haved a name, like my cie name is Kabouka came from a statue, about Azoumbie her real name is Zoumbie but a put a A in front because I dont want my font figure at they end whit the Z.

Ok, who are Zoumbie ? Zoumbie is a female warrior whit a lot of caracter, and I desined my font like that, a lot or caractere whit a touch of feminite. I dont know if I succeed that but I hope people are going to tell me about.

About me, once again I dont consider my self like a typograph, I am realy a newbie and I am a little bit shame about to show you my font, but I will today on black letter uncial (I dont know what mean uncial I look on the dictionnary but didnt find it.

Have a good one
Marc

unknown

Marc, don’t be ashamed to post your font in the Critique forum. We’ve all been in the same situation at some time. Everyone has to start somewhere.

As for uncial, check out the Wikipedia entry, or Typophile’s very own TypoWiki entry.

Looking forward to seeing your typeface, Monsieur. :-)

unknown

;-) Bienvenue!

unknown

That doggone Linda is sweet-talkin’ again :-)

ChrisL

unknown

You’re just jealous. ;-) Apart from my adventures in French immersion weekends, I don’t get much chance to speak French other than yell obscenities at the refs during the French hockey games.

unknown

Marc,

Welcome. Since francophone culture makes a distinction between un audiophile and un mélomane, and you claim you are not a typophile, perhaps you can call yourself a typomane!

unknown

Hi Ricardo,
If you want to see it, I put it on the treath : Critique / Blackletter & Uncial / Azoumbie -Voila- ;)

Bonjour Linda,

Hey Bruce,
I would like to ajust my self whit this forum, what mean Typophile ? For me is someone who loved typographie it’s that ? How do you call a guy or girl who designed typeface ? I said I’am not a typeface designer, because in my head you have to be good for wearing this title.

unknown

You’re right Linda, I am jealous:-) Oh, and give those hockey refs hell for me too!

ChrisL

Bonjour Marc

A la prochaine….

unknown

Marc,
Don’t worry, Linda and I always play jokes with eachother here on Typophile. Don’t take anything I say seriously. I can’t resist a joke.

ChrisL

unknown

Thanks ChrisL,

Sometime I have problem to understand a tread, now, imagine a joke ! OUFF !!!!

unknown

My jokes are pretty bad to so don’t worry :-)

ChrisL

unknown

Hope it isn’t too bothersome that we prattle on in French. We aren’t communicating state secrets, I promise. ;)

Bienvenu Marc
Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir? Je rigole bien sur…

Benvenuto a bordo!
