Bend it like Bickham

cleric

We have a few shirts and stuff for sale at http://www.straightloop.com/ but one in particular I thought this forum might be interested in. Bend it like Bickham by my friend Chris King.

hend it?

I've never liked that b.
The alternative script form of b, which keeps going in a counter-clockwise rotation at the bottom of the main stroke, and then connects to the next letter from a little ball at one o'clock, is far less ambiguous, and has a great deal of historical precedent -- though perhaps not totally authentic vis-à-vis Mr Bickham.

More Beckhamology, this time Beccam:

Wonderful! (Too bad it's only available in medium and large.)

Thanks,

T

Say, is it okay if I borrow that image for a blog post about the T-shirt?

Cheers,

T

Of course you can use the image.

Also, Chris may still have a few in other sizes, if you let me know what you're looking for I can ask him.

Why wasn't the word Bickham also set in Bickham?

Dear Cleric,

Brilliant! Cheers! Is the word "Bickham" set in the lovely roman which I remember seeing in Bickham's classic book of engravings once? I believe it's called 'Universal Penmanship' and it's well worth a trip to the library. Is the international shipping quite expensive?

Nick, I'm sorry but I've no idea what you're going on about. What's going to happen at 1:00?

Ok, three o'clock. What I mean is that this kind of script structure is more like a b, less like an h.

I assumed that "Bickham" wasn't set in Bickham because the designer wanted to use all caps.

Personally, I would love an XXL if possible, or failing that an XL. A plain ol' large doesn't do me much good. Heck, I'd pay extra for an XXL.

Cheers,

T

Thomas, they might charge by the yard for us :-)
