Websites with type as it's main aesthetic feature?

j_polo9

So I am looking for websites with type or composition as it's main aesthetic elements. Probably ones with only one or two colours and little or no pictures. Good typography is a must.

some sites i've found:

http://www.coudal.com/

http://www.typographi.com/

http://www.alistapart.com/articles/fourdayweek

http://www2.jeffcroft.com/2006/oct/01/what-does-it-mean-be-professional-...

oh and i think typophile makes the list :)

It's "its".
(Otherwise known as a spelling feature.)

I would hope that all the foundries would fit the bill.

thanks nick.

chris, any foundries in particular that you like visually with good web typography? Any others?

Reading your heading again I realize you are looking more for this kind of thing:

Jonathan Corum, propriator of this site, designed the Font Bureau site and is now does information design for the NY Times. He is great at making the complex visually simple.

At Ji Lee's site (previous post) see the 'independent projects' for all kinds of innovative play with letters.

Shaun Inman's recently lauhced a pretty interesting redesign that's pretty type-reliant -- even the coloured bar on the left of the page is partially constructed from type (bullet points for the corners and caps, it seems).

His use of colour to indicate the passing of time and the relative age of posts is pretty interesting as well.

ahh yes! lol i think i even posted that on typophile a few weeks back :P
hmm it seems to have already changed a bit...

I wouldn't say type as much as grid layout which i find equally pleasign. Great Bauhaus site and cool stuff as well.
