ri ligatures in Georgia?

tomdonahue0 votes

Is there such a thing as an ri ligature?
Mark Liberman at Language Log is wondering.

No. Georgia is not feature rich in that way.

Sorry I meant Georgia as in highway signs around Atlanta, Georgia.

Guess I don't follow. Why do you need an ri ligature in the word Georgia? Or is it a random question.

I'm sure there are fonts which have an ri ligature. It seems like a good pairing where one might be useful.

They must be having problems with people keeping to the right.

Probably one of the best jokes I've heard in months. Thanks for that!
