Waves of Change / Free & Easy ~ Surf movie posters

apparatus™

Hi,
Would anyone know the headline typefaces displayed on these posters?

'Waves of Change' seems to be like Premiere Shaded but a bit different?...
is this available as digital?

No sure on the this one?

THANKS! I love these posters, if anyone may know someone that has these I would be keen to buy them!

Free and Easy is Cooper Black Italic with swashes. Don't know if the swashes are available in digital form.

Thanks, do you know where any reference to Cooper swashes would be? Internet, books etc?
What di you think of the 'Waves of Change' typeface, any thoughts?

Cooper Black Italic with swashes has come up on Typophile before.

I've found a Cooper Black Swash Italic for sale ($60), but the swashes appear to be different from the ones in your sample. Since they claim that their set includes swashes that are the same as the original ones, there's a chance that your swashes are custom.

Don't know about Waves of Change.

Hey Joshua

Get yourself an old Letraset catalogue from the early '70s; I think the Cooper Black and the Premier Shaded both featured in their Letragraphica collection.

'Waves of Change' appears to be handlettered from two different faces; a condensed grotesque with the crossbar of 'H' repositioned higher – and something like Avant Garde for the big round characters. That 'e' may have been resized and redrawn from the lowercase of the same face. You could artwork this easily enough in Illustrator or Freehand, but I doubt any of it exists as a single digital font.

I'm sure I've seen that "Waves of Change" face in an old Letraset book. I don't have mine with me though.

Thanks so much for all the help. I will definitely try and track down an old letraset book from the 70's. Cheers!

Doe's anyone have an old Letraset catalogue from the 70s that they may be willing to sell? My email is: josh@apparatus.com.au

Waves of Change -- Cinema Shaded (solotype)

You also have good samples of Cinema (One, Two and Three) in page 111 of the marvellous Phil's Homage To The Alphabet type catalog.
Sorry but can't post images.

Opti Cinema Solid is available from Castcraft. They might have the other variants as well, but youo'd have to ask.

Oy. Apologies if that was a wrong steer Joshua – you don't have to artwork that 'Waves of Change' yourself because Cinema (Solid or Shaded) it is. Congratulations to David, Ignacio and Mike.

If you still think you need an old Letraset catalogue I would recommend your local op shops and secondhand bookstores.
