I can’t pick it out, parts of it look like a Bookman, but that’s not it...or maybe there’s a variation beyond the basic four that I have?

The ’k’ looks like either ITC Bookman or Bookman Old Style, but the ’y’ looks more like ITC CLearface, with the curled serif. The rest of your sample looks like one of those Bookman versions to me.
